THE DESTINY OF A STAR

-Vanshit

The tears of the stars were disguised as their light
A drop on my face and I leapt into the night
Opened my eyes, I saw myself floating in the dark
Nothing there to see, just silence and stark
Fireflies approaching, slowly guiding the way,
Lighting up every corner they go, a long trail
Stepping forward into the night,

I reached where the stars rest

The stars were withering, reminiscing the places they visited and the people they met
A man screaming out, searching for his wife
A girl gazing at the stars, doing their twinkling dance
And an introvert looking for silence just like the stars bright

The stars had their last smile while I left them on their own
I continued my journey and reached a place unknown
‘The grave of stars', it was popularly called.
Light looking for its love while stars lay dead,
In an attempt to fulfill the last wishes which they said,
That the brightest ones had the darkest stories.

I was on my way back when my foot slipped

and I fell into the sky,
Dropped upon broken star while it took its last sigh
I wished for my life and I opened my eyes,
The stars were smiling, I smiled back while I felt the night.
